Self-Drive Rental Car Outfit Recommendation Needed
Howdy, my wife and I are arriving in Addis for 11 days in mid-December.
We're having trouble finding an outfit that will rent us a car without a driver (surprise, surprise).
We're experienced travelers who simply drive themselves around the country, cause that's the fun for us.
I'm looking for anyone who has had success or has a recommendation for success in getting a self-drive rental. Over the past month, I've tried 20+ places all over the country, but ultimately, each attempt failed.
Please let me know if you have had any success in renting a self-drive car and the company you used.

Welcome to Fodors. AFAIK foreign visitors are not allowed to drive in Ethiopia without getting a temporary Ethiopian Driver's License and a residence permit. An awful lot of red tape and hoops to jump through. One cannot simply hire a car. That is why visitors use drivers.
