I would imagine any Mexican destination has been greatly gringo-fied in the 17 years between 2001 and 2018. We had to laugh that every "boutique" in San Miguel de Allende was owned by a blonde woman named Barbara or Sunflower.

I suppose you're right. I'll have to stop being so grumpy about it!

You are not being a grump! We've been going to Zihuatanejo for the last 9 years and part of every trip is spent talking about how much it has changed. In Zihua's case it isn't that it's the gringos it's the improvement in the local infrastructure, the Malecon has been paved, more lights, nicer restaurants, more bleachers around the basketball court. Us gringos sit around talking about how it was better when it was dirt streets! The locals though are saying "we love the changes, can't we have nice things". In Troncones, our other favorite haunt, the place is being invaded by...Mexicans! A lot of developers from Mexico City are coming to the quiet little town and squeezing in 10 unit apartments on a lot that would have historically held one house. When we complain to our friend Russell, in Troncones, a gringo who has lived there for 20 years, he just laughs and says, Troncones started changing the day before I moved in and the day after. Change is tough.. I mean England has a King now! Who heard of such a thing. (thats for you Crellston)
