10 days in Costa Rica - first trip

Planning a 10 day trip to Costa Rica in early May. Too much to see in a short time, and we don't want to go from place to place too many times. I was thinking we would start in the Arenal NP area because of the wide variety of activities. I was also looking at the Oso Peninsula and Corcovado NP in particular, but that's a long way from Arenal. But it's looks like lots of wildlife in the Park and a place that's maybe less traveled and crowded? Our priorities are: wildlife viewing, hot springs, shortish hikes, snorkeling if at all possible (I know the east coast is better for that). I figured we could use the Oso Peninsula as sort of a base camp for day trips into the Park and other areas. But since we've never been, wide open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance for advice and suggestions.
