Eastern Mediterranean cruise 5/1-21, 25

Beginning to think about excursions on 7 Greek Islands, Turkey and Greece. Hope to have warm enough weather to enjoy island beaches and snorkel time. Plus, walking tours of historical sites. Has anyone cruised this early in May? We assume this time will be much less crowded than summertime. We are spending 3 days in Venice before heading to Trieste for cruise port. Any suggestions for travel from Venice Hotel to port? We usually hire a service. Should we plan to spend time in Trieste or use time in Venice?? Any helpful suggestions are welcome. Thank you!!

Great. You should enjoy it.

May I ask what ship and what are your port stops? That could help too give a better idea of what to recommend.

You also might want to post on the Europe Forum asking about Venice (have you been before), Trieste, and specific stops in Greece.

More cruise info

We are cruising on Princess 20 day Eastern Mediterranean. We have been to some ports, but not all. We are snorkelers and would like to snorkel where there is plentiful sea life. Our island stops are Corfu, Mykonos, Limassol, Chania, Katakolon, Rhodes, and Corfu. Other stops are Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Athens, Naples and Rome which will be inland excursions for us. We have spent time in Rome, but any great sights in other ports that you can recommend? We appreciate any ideas. Thanks

Wow! What a cool itinerary. Nice! Are you doing ships tours or looking for private ones?

Istanbul has mich to offer including the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Market and Justinians Cisterns.

Then there is great food ad desserts like Turkish delights of all sorts and baklava.

In Naples the ruins of Pompei is a must see IMHO.

We hired a private guide in Rhodes though I don't recall too much of what we did. We did stop for lunch and by circumstance ended up at Mavrikos which had the Greek version of a Michelin star. https://www.greekgastronomyguide.gr/...-lindos-rodos/

Our time in Athens was limited as I was recovering from norovirus but we got a cab to the central market district which was quite easy to do.

We were in Mykonos but just went into town, had some lunch and chilled.

The other places we have not been to.

Have great time!!

Larry

You would want a wet suit for snorkeling in May in any of those stops.
