Salamanca
The Salamanca neighborhood, one of the new areas included in the program of city expansions which started in the second half of the 19th century, was originally supposed to provide shelter for the working classes. However, it soon became a favorite location for the bourgeois, the upper class, and the aristocracy, a legacy that's still apparent in the neighborhood's myriad expensive restaurants and luxury shops.
