Have you searched here or looked at Booking.com? The latter will find far more opinions about what is good and not. What facilities do you need? Booking has the filters for you too.

The Holiday in is ok if you know what to expect. Small rooms, some with no outlook, spartan interiors. Nothing is what I would say is value for money in central Amsterdam.

Loads of other websites do. Some are more trustworthy than TA. I would search for the property on other websites. Just be careful as TA also own some sites on which the property can be sold.

Maybe somewhere out of AMS would be cheaper. It does not have to be a large city like Rotterdam or Utrecht...
